F&NHB Partners Kota Kinabalu City Hall to Revitalise Tun Fuad Stephens Botanical Park through Program Jejak Botani in conjunction with celebration of the 26th Anniversary of Kota Kinabalu City
The launch was officiated by Datuk Sr. Lifred Wong, Director General of Planning and Development Sector, Kota Kinabalu City Hall, who represented Dato’ Sri Dr. Haji Sabin bin Samitah, Mayor of Kota Kinabalu, marking an important milestone in the park’s ongoing revitalisation.
Formerly a popular destination for jogging, family outings and once home to a water park, Tun Fuad Stephens Botanical Park was closed in late 2022 to make way for renovations and upgrading works. Rebranded last year as a botanical park, the area features a main 2.1-kilometre jogging trail alongside several hiking paths, offering residents a renewed green space for recreation, wellness and connection with nature.
“The year 2026 marks a significant milestone for F&NHB as we celebrate our 60th anniversary in East Malaysia. In conjunction with this milestone, we are proud to serve as the sole partner of Program Jejak Botani in celebration of the 26th Anniversary of Kota Kinabalu City. This meaningful collaboration reflects our deep appreciation for the communities that have supported us over the decades and underscores our ongoing commitment to giving back in meaningful and lasting ways,” said Lau Cheng Yew, Managing Director, Domestic Commercial Operations (Malaysia).
To date, F&NHB has contributed over RM33,000 towards the planting of 210 trees and plants, including native Borneo species such as Spathodea campanulata, alongside Kayu Malam and Bougainvillea. Beyond greening efforts, F&NHB’s support also extends to upcoming enhancements, including the revitalisation of gazebos and the installation of directional signages, to help create a more welcoming and inclusive public space for the community.
“This initiative reflects our enduring commitment to delivering Pure Enjoyment, Pure Goodness, while building meaningful partnerships that create lasting impact for generations to come,” said Lau.
Bringing this commitment to life on the ground, F&NHB marked the occasion with representatives joining the Mayor-led floral walk and tree planting activities, alongside colleagues who volunteered throughout the day. F&NHB also supported the event with beverages for participants, reinforcing its commitment to community-led placemaking.
Through Program Jejak Botani, F&NHB is proud to collaborate with Kota Kinabalu City Hall in restoring Tun Fuad Stephens Botanical Park as a vibrant urban retreat that brings people together while nurturing a deeper appreciation for nature, further reinforcing F&N’s long-standing commitment to giving back to the communities it serves in East Malaysia.
